Chelsea back up to third

Chelsea reclaimed third place in the Premier League with a resounding 3-0 victory over West London rivals Fulham at Craven Cottage.

David Luiz, making his 100th appearance for the Blues, fired in a spectacular opener from 35 yards on the half hour mark, before a brace of back post headers either side of the break from John Terry secured the victory.

Rafa Benitez’s side will now turn their attention to Sunday’s trip to the Spaniards former club Liverpool, before the first leg of their Europa League semi-final tie with FC Basel in a weeks’ time.

Meanwhile, reports in Spain and England claim that the club have opened talks with representatives of Malaga boss Manuel Pellegrini regarding the soon to be vacant managerial post at Stamford Bridge.

The former Real Madrid coach, who last week was minutes away from taking Malaga into the Champions League semi-finals, is contracted until 2014, though his agent revealed that he has a release clause of £3.5 million.

However, Jose Mourinho remains the favourite ahead of the man he replaced at the Bernabeu with the bookmakers to land the job.

The former Blues boss was once again spotted in London yesterday by Spanish press, fuelling speculation that he set for a sensational return to Stamford Bridge.
