Chelsea have no fresh injury concerns for Saturday afternoon’s visit of Newcastle United.
The game is likely to come too soon for Fernando Torres, who has missed the last three matches with a back problem while Marco van Ginkel is out for the rest of the season.
Three points for Jose Mourinho’s men could see them return to the top of the table if Arsenal fail to beat Liverpool earlier in the day, and Manchester City drop points at Norwich City.
Alan Pardew’s side are one of three to have beaten the Blues in the league so far this season, with goals from Yohan Goufrann and Loic Remy securing all three points for the hosts at St James’ Park back in November while last season’s corresponding fixture ended in a 2-0 victory for Chelsea.
Meanwhile, the club will make a big money move for Liverpool’s Luis Suarez when the transfer window reopens, the Metro understands.
The Uruguay international signed a new contract earlier in the season having been strongly linked with a move away from Anfield in the summer, though it is believed that an exit could be on the cards for the Premier League’s top scorer if the Merseyside club miss out on qualifying for the Champions League.
Eden Hazard’s 29th minute strike was enough to see Chelsea beat Swansea City, and secure a fifth win in seven league games for Jose Mourinho’s men.
The Blues remain two points off the top of the Premier League after Arsenal moved back into first place following a 3-1 win over West Ham United.
Manchester City are second, a point behind the Gunners and ahead of the Blues after a 2-1 win over Liverpool, who slip to fourth while fifth place Everton stay fifth after a shock defeat to bottom of the table Sunderland.
Chelsea now turn their attention to Sunday afternoon’s match against Liverpool, a side who they have beaten just twice in their last thirteen clashes in the league.
Ramires will miss the game through suspension after picking up a fifth yellow card of the season in the Boxing Day victory over Swansea.
Mourinho is likely to continue rotating his squad, with Cesar Azpilicueta expected to be recalled in place of Ashley Cole at left-back, while Fernando Torres could also return to the starting line-up.
This will be the first meeting between the sides since the 2-2 draw at Anfield back in April – the game where Branislav Ivanovic was bitten by Luis Suarez.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is likely to rotate his squad for this afternoon’s game against Swansea City with Sunday’s clash with Liverpool in mind.
Ashley Cole could be recalled at left-back, while Michael Essien is available after serving a one-match suspension.
The Blues are currently in fourth place, and sit two points behind leaders Liverpool, who themselves face third place Manchester City this evening while second place Arsenal travel to West Ham United.
Anything other than three points for Chelsea may could see the slip out of the top four with Everton hot on their heels.
Meanwhile, Mourinho is lining up a £48m move for Napoli’s Gonzalo Higuain, according to the Mirror.
The pair worked together for three years at Real Madrid before both moved on to pastures new in the summer.
The Argentina international has been in fine form since joining Rafael Benitez’s side, scoring thirteen goals in twenty-one appearances in all competitions.
However, the Serie A side are reportedly willing to do business as it would secure them a quick profit of around £13.5m.
Only Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi scored more goals than the 26 year old during qualification for next summer’s World Cup finals, and will be keen to continue impressing with the tournament in Brazil fast approaching.

Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has admitted that he wouldn’t have a problem if the club were to sign Luis Suarez, according to the Mail Online.
The Liverpool striker, who is currently serving a ten match ban for biting Ivanovic when the two sides met at Anfield in April, has been strongly linked with a move away from Merseyside this summer.
Real Madrid and Arsenal are currently the favourites to land the controversial striker, though with Jose Mourinho keen to add another striker before the start of the season, the Blues could well enter the race for his signature.
The Chelsea manager is however more likely to make an approach for Wayne Rooney, something which would be welcomed by midfielder Eden Hazard, the Mail Online understands.
The Belgium international said that Rooney ‘would be a brilliant signing’, though David Moyes has insisted that he is not for sale.
Hazard also spoke highly of his international teammate Christian Benteke, who recently requested to leave Aston Villa.
Meanwhile, fellow Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku has once again stressed that he is not willing to go out on loan again next season.
The 20 year old is determined to establish himself under Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are set to miss out on signing Edinson Cavani as the Napoli striker looking set to secure a move to Paris Saint Germain, according to the Express.
The Uruguayan has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for some time, with Real Madrid also reportedly interested though the Ligue 1 Champions are set to trump both clubs with a £55m offer, which will activate the players released clause.
They mega-rich club are also willing to offer the 26 year old £200,000 per week as they look to make an impression on next seasons Champions League.
Elsewhere, the Express also claim that the Blues are also set to be disappointed in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund forward Robert Lewandowski who, according to manager Jurgen Klopp, will move to Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich next summer.
The Metro understand that the Blues will now turn their attention to Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke, who scored nineteen goals in his debut season in England, while Liverpool’s Luis Suarez is also still on the clubs radar, according the Express.
A move for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has also been mooted, though David Moyes has stressed that the England international is not for sale.
Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has been charged by the Football Association with violent conduct after the Uruguayan bit Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in Sunday’s 2-2 draw at Anfield.
Suarez has also reportedly been fined £200,000 by Liverpool, with the money set to be donated to the Hillsborough Family Support Group.
The FA, who have offered to provide anger management classes for the controversial forward, must now decide on the length of the suspension, though it is thought that it will be between six and eight games, similar to the ban handed out when Suarez bit an opponent whilst playing for Ajax in 2010.
Elsewhere, Chelsea look set to make a move for Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini, after it was revealed that the Belgian international has a release clause of £23 million that could be activated should David Moyes’ men fail to qualify for the Champions League.
The Toffee’s defeat to Sunderland on Sunday looks to have all but ended their chances of making the top four, with both fourth place Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur having played a game less than the Merseyside club.
Both Anzhi Makhachkala and Zenit St. Petersburg are also thought to be interested in Fellaini, who has been chased by Chelsea throughout the season.
