A lot of people might not agree to Jose Mourinho’s statements that he made in the press conference after his team’s away game against Southampton last weekend, but, what he said was not completely wrong.
Well, he is someone who speaks pretty directly and that’s why, he does not sound good at times, but, if he thinks that something wrong is being done to his side deliberately, he has every right to speak about it.
It was a clear case of penalty when the Southampton player Matt Targett fouled that evening at St Mary, but, the referee made the call against the Blues and this is not the first time that Chelsea has got such a decision in the ongoing league. It has happened to them many a time.
For Instance, during the game versus Manchester United, their players were frequently being shown yellow card, while, the Red Devils were getting away and even that day, Mourinho had looked dissatisfied with the referee’s decisions.
The Portuguese had not come down hard that day though while he faced the media. He had maintained his cool, but, not on Sunday. He was absolutely fuming and very clearly said what he felt.
He has obviously been criticized by the supporters of other clubs and also by some of the former footballer who believe that the match officials have been fair in all the games, but, it’s important for people to understand that Mourinho has reacted this way after getting a number of bad decisions.
If the penalty was given to Fabregas, there was 90% chance of Chelsea getting ahead in that Southampton game and winning it.
Similarly, if Chelsea had not been reduced to 10 players at Old Trafford, they might have won there as well. So, the referees’ decisions have cost Mourinho points and no manager in the world would like that.
