Bayern in for Luiz

European Champions Bayern Munich are lining up a £35million bid for Chelsea defender David Luiz, the Mirror understands.

Many at Stamford Bridge believe that the 26 year old, who played in Brazil’s 3-0 Confederations Cup final victory over Spain on Sunday, has a huge role to play with the Blues long term, with there even being talk of him eventually replacing John Terry as captain.

However, he is yet to rule out a move away from the club, and there are reports that returning manager Jose Mourinho is not completely convinced by the player, who is also said to be a target for Paris Saint Germain.

Meanwhile, the Telegraph claim that Chelsea are willing to offer £20million for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, who is set for crunch talks with new manager David Moyes on Wednesday.

The England striker has been strongly linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer following reports that he handed in a transfer request at the end of last season, though the 27 has himself since rejected these claims.

Elsewhere, the Express have reported that the Blues have placed AC Milan forward Stephan El Shaarawy on their transfer wish-list.

The 20 year old, who has also been linked with PSG and Monaco, scored sixteen goals in thirty-seven Serie A appearances last season.
