Mourinho standing firm over Luiz

Chelsea manager Jose  Mourinho is adamant that the club will reject any bids for defender David Luiz, Sky Sports understands.

The 26 year old is a reported target for Barcelona, who are desperately trying to strengthen their defence ahead of their La Liga title defence.

They have also been linked with a move for Liverpool’s Daniel Agger, though Luiz appears to be their first choice.

However, the Blues boss has stressed that the Brazilian is a big part of his plans, as he prepares for the first competitive game of his second spell in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Elsewhere, the club will face competition from Manchester United in their pursuit of Anzhi Makhachkala forward Samuel Eto’o, according to the Mirror.

The 32 year old has spoken of his desire of again linking up with Jose Mourinho, who he played under at Inter Milan during their treble winning 2009/10 campaign.

The Blues have turned their attention to the Cameroon international as their chances of securing a deal for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney seem to be all but over.

Manager David Moyes has stood firm over the England international, with United rejecting both of Chelsea’s bids for the England international.
