Moses: Early goal important

Chelsea midfielder Victor Moses has claimed that an early goal could kill of their opponents in this evening’s Europa League Quarter Final second leg with Rubin Kazan.

The Blues go in to the game having won the first leg 3-1 at Stamford Bridge last week, though Moses, who scored Chelsea’s second goal seven days ago, believes an away goal will take off the pressure.

However, Rafael Benitez is expected to select his side with Sunday afternoons FA Cup Semi Final with Manchester City in mind.

Demba Ba will miss the game having already represented Newcastle United in the competition, while Gary Cahill, Ashley Cole and Ryan Bertrand have all remained in England through injury.

18 year old left back Nathan Ake is expected to be handed his first completive start while Fernando Torres, who scored a brace in the first leg will once again lead the line.

Chelsea boast an impressive records against Russian sides, winning all five of their previous attempts, though the Luzhniki Stadium provided the setting for the Champions League defeat to Manchester United in 2008.

The venue was altered due to UEFA’s worry over the weather in Kazan, so Chelsea’s supporters could well outnumber those of their opponents in the 90,000 capacity ground.

Few have travelled from London, though the club have a sizeable following in Russia, due to support of owner Roman Abramovich.
