Chelsea through to Europa League last four

Chelsea survived a scare in Moscow yesterday evening to book their place in the last four of the Europa League.

The Blues lost the second leg of their quarter final with Rubin Kazan at the Luzhniki Stadium, though their win a week ago sees them go through 5-4 on aggregate.

Fernando Torres early strike gave the visitors a first half lead, though Ivan Marcano drew his side level shortly after the break.

Victor Moses bagged his second goal of the tie to again put Chelsea in front on the evening, and give them a 5-2 lead overall, though goals from Gokdeniz Karadeniz and Bibras Nacho set up a nervy last fifteen minutes.

Rafael Benitez’s side will now face FC Basel in the semi-finals, with the first leg to be played in Switzerland on April 25th.

The club will now turn their attention to Sunday afternoon’s FA Cup semi-final with Manchester City at Wembley.

The game may come too soon for both Ashley Cole and Gary Cahill, though Ryan Bertrand is set to return to the starting line-up having missed the trip to Russia through illness.

Demba Ba is also available having missed out yesterday having already represented Newcastle United in Europe this season.
