Chelsea without defensive trio for trip to Russia

Chelsea face a defensive selection headache ahead of tomorrow evening’s Europa League Quarter Final second leg with Rubin Kazan.

Gary Cahill is set to miss the game following knee surgery, while Ryan Bertand has a virus, and joins fellow left-back Ashley Cole on the side-lines.

As the clubs only fit left back, 18 year old Nathan Ake is expected to be handed his first start.

The Blues won the first leg 3-1 at Stamford Bridge a week ago.

Elsewhere, the Daily Star has reported that Jose Mourinho has already named his number one transfer target, should he be reappointed as Chelsea manager.

Brazilian striker Hulk, who has been linked with a move to London in the past, reportedly heads a list of targets chosen by the former Blues boss, who is odds on to retake the reins at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, Swansea City will reportedly make a loan approach for striker Romelu Lukaku once his current deal with West Bromwich Albion comes to an end.

The Belgian international has stated that he wishes to spend another season away from the Blues in order to continue playing regularly.

Lukaku has scored 13 goals in 29 league appearances this season, with the Baggies looking set to achieve their highest ever Premier League finish under the guidance of former Blues defender Steve Clarke.
