Chelsea star midfielder Eden Hazard says that he has had several arguments with manager José Mourinho, but he has ruled out any issues with the Portuguese. Just like in any other relationship, the manager and the player have had some disagreements that especially cropped up in the 2013-14 season.Hazard was publicly criticised by Mourinho for being responsible for the 3-1 semi-final defeat against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. The failure on the part of the Belgian to track his opponent led to several goals. Since then,Hazard has been a player transformed and the 24-year-old managed to win a clean sweep of all the individual accolades last season.
The newly crowned PFA Player of the Year refused to rule out the lack of disagreements in his relationship with Mourinho, but he thinks that the Portuguese has made him a better player overall. In the 38 league matches last season,Hazard came up with 14 goals and an impressive nine assists. He was one of the players to have played in every match of the league. Mourinho has constantly stated thatHazard will be forgotten if he does not make an impact in every match he plays. After an inconsistent couple of seasons,Hazard says that he is now making an impact in every match.
“I get on very well with Mourinho. Last season we had two or three disagreements but with Mourinho everything is forgotten quickly.Yes I am aware [of my new status at Chelsea], perhaps [more so] off the field because I’m not somebody who talks a lot. But on the pitch I try to be the one everybody passes to, even if sometimes I don’t do the right thing. The biggest change is that the previous years I’ve always made great seasons, there is not a year when I was bad but there were games where I was a little unnoticed,” said Hazard.
