Mourinho keen on Drogba return

 Jose Mourinho expects club legend Didier Drogba to one day return to the club possibly in a coaching capacity, ESPN understands.

The Blues boss brought the Ivory Coast international to Stamford Bridge back in 2004, with the striker going on to score 157 goals in 341 appearances, as well as the winning penalty in the 2012 Champions League final against Bayern Munich.

Drogba now plies his trade with Galatasaray, having spent a short spell in China with Shanghai Shenhua.

The 35 year old has one year left on his contract in Turkey but Mourinho believes that Chelsea will always be his true home, and has tipped him to return before too long.

Meanwhile, the club are considering a move for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira, the Metro understands.

The Spanish giants are looking to raise funds as they prepare a fresh bid for Tottenham Hotspur’s Gareth Bale, and the Blues could take advantage by making a move for the Germany international.

Khedira is also likely to fall down the pecking order at the Bernabeu following the arrivals of Spanish duo Asier Illarramendi and Isco.

Finally, TalkSport have claimed that Napoli and Inter Milan have joined Benfica in the race to take Brazilian defender Wallace on loan.

Mourinho keen on Drogba return

Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing Didier Drogba back to Chelsea as a player-coach, according to the Express.

The Ivory Coast international’s current club Galatasaray say that they won’t release him until his contract expires next summer, though talks are underway for the 35 year old to make his return.

The Blues manager believes that Drogba still has something to offer on the field, but would ultimately utilise him as a mentor for the club’s forwards.

In his eight seasons at the club, Drogba scored 157 goals, with his final kick in a Chelsea shirt the penalty that secured victory in the 2012 Champions League final against Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, Ryan Bertrand has distanced himself from reports that he is set to leave the club, Sky Sports understands.

Brendan Rodgers is reportedly keen on signing the 23 year old for Liverpool, having worked with him whilst in charge of the Chelsea reserves, as well as taking him on loan at Reading.

However, the full back is keen to fight Ashley Cole for his place in the Blues starting XI next season.

Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho has calmed fears over the injury picked up by Kevin De Bruyne in yesterday’s 4-1 friendly win over Malaysia.

Goals from Bertrand Traore, De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Victor Moses wrapped up the victory before the hosts scored a consolation goal late on.

PSG keen on Ivanovic

Paris Saint Germain are interested in signing Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, the Metro understands.

The French champions are looking for a replacement for Gregory van der Wiel, who is reportedly on the verge of joining Inter Milan and have identified the Serbian international as their number one defensive target.

It is thought that they will offer the 29 year old a big-money, four year deal to try and lure him to the French capital, though it appears he favours staying at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, the Metro also report that the Blues are hopeful of re-signing striker Didier Drogba.

Jose Mourinho is keen on being reunited with the Ivory Coast international, who he signed from Marsielle at the beginning of his first spell with the club.

Drogba, now at Galatasaray, played in the Turkish sides 3-0 friendly victory at Shrewsbury Town on Saturday; a match attended by a number of Chelsea fans who turned up to see their former hero.

Elsewhere, Daniele De Rossi has not been included in the squad for Roma’s pre-season training camp in Riscone, the Mail Online understands.

The 29 year old, who is an £11millon target for the Blues, has been given an extended break following his participation in the Confederations Cup.

Anzhi to move for Ba?

Chelsea striker Demba Ba has emerged as a target for Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala, the Mirror understands.

The Senegalese forward has only been at Stamford Bridge for six months, though the arrival of Andre Schurrle, as well as the continued pursuit of Edinson Cavani has indicated that he is not in Jose Mourinho’s plans.

Ba has reportedly turned down the chance of returning to former club West Ham United, while West Bromwich Albion, who yesterday signed former Blue Nicolas Anelka, was another potential destination for the 28 year old.

Anzhi are likely to table a lucrative offer for the player, who scored six goals in twenty-two appearances for Chelsea last season after signing from Newcastle United in January.

Meanwhile, Galatasaray are resuming talks with the Blues over a £16million move for midfielder John Obi Mikel, according to the Mail Online.

The 26 year old has made over 250 appearances since signing for the club seven years ago, and will again link up with Chelsea legend Didier Drogba should the move go through.

Elsewhere, the Metro have reported that Zenit St Petersburg striker Hulk has received offers from both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, as he targets a move to the Premier League.

Mikel set for Galatasaray switch

Galatasaray are set to finalise a deal for Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel, the Daily Mail understands.

The Nigerian international, who is currently competing in the Confederations Cup in Brail, asked for the advice of former teammate Didier Drogba, who joined the Turkish club in January.

Mikel was signed for the Blues by Jose Mourinho back in 2006, after a protracted transfer that almost saw him move to Manchester United, to the points where he was even pictured in their shirt at a press conference.

FIFA ordered that the player move back to Lyn Oslo while the matter with resolved, though Chelsea intervened to settle directly with United, paying them £12million, with a further £4million going to Lyn.

During his time at Stamford Bridge, Mikel won the Premier League, four FA Cups, the League Cup, the Europa League and the Champions League, with arguably his best performance coming in the final of the latter.

Meanwhile, David Luiz has confirmed that he broke his nose in Brazil’s 2-0 victory over Mexico in the Confederations Cup yesterday.

The incident, which saw the Blues man grounded with blood seeping from his nose, came when he clashed with teammate Thiago Silva during the first half.

Luiz played the entire match, with the extent of his injury becoming clear after the game.

Mourinho deal ‘agreed’

The Mirror have reported that Chelsea have reached an ‘agreement’ former manager Jose Mourinho to return to the club for next season.

The 50 year olds previous spell at Stamford Bridge allegedly ended my mutual consent six years ago with the self-proclaimed Special One having clinched six trophies in just three seasons.

Speculation linking the Portuguese boss’s return to Stamford Bridge has been rife even before Interim Manager Rafael Benitiez took the reins earlier in the season, and it seems that both parties have agreed on a provisional three year contract, which reportedly hangs on whether or not the Blues clinch Champions League football for next season.

However, reports in France claim that a similar deal has been struck with French Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint Germain, who are currently led by fellow former Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti.

The report names Guus Hiddink as a potential fall back should the Mourinho deal not materialise.

Elsewhere, club captain John Terry has been linked with a shock move to Turkish side Fenerbache.

The Istanbul side are keen to rival Galatasaray, who earlier this year signed former Blues legend Didier Drogba, with big name signings and are reportedly keen on Terry, who has a year to run on his current contract.
