Schurrle deal close

Chelsea have moved a step closer to securing a deal for Bayer Leverkusen striker Andre Schurrle after the Bundesliga club’s general manager revealed that a fee has been agreed.

The 22 year old is set to move to Stamford Bridge for a deal that will cost the Blues a reported £20 million and see Kevin De Bruyne move in the opposite direction on loan.

Schurlle, who came on for the last twenty minutes of Germany’s 4-2 in Ecuador, scored eleven goals in thirty-four league appearances last season.

Meanwhile, the Daily Express have reported that Rafael Benitez is considering making a £30 million bid for David Luiz.

It is thought that the new Napoli manager will battle with Barcelona for the Brazilian international, who signed from Benfica in January 2011.

Elsewhere, the Daily Mail claim that Florent Malouda is wanted by Marsielle, who are reportedly lining up a one year deal, with an option of a further year.

Corinthians and Anzhi Makhachkala are also considering a move for the Frenchman, who spent the whole of last season training with the reserves.

Finally, Thibaut Courtois has taken to Twitter to declare that he wishes to remain on loan at Atletico Madrid for another year.

With Petr Cech expected to remain as the Blues number one for at least another season, the Belgian international may be permitted to extend his stay in the Spanish capital, where he helped Diego Simeone’s side clinch the Copa del Rey against rivals Real Madrid a fortnight ago.
