Roman Abramovich is a Demanding Boss – Antonio Conte

Antonio Conte he says that Chelsea manager Roman Abramovich is a very demanding boss. On the positive side, he says that Abramovich is very keen on learning the different aspects of football.

The Russian billionaire has been very much a hands-on owner since he bought into the club in the summer of 2003. He has invested more than £1 billion into Chelsea and he has been rewarded with four league titles and one Champions League medal. Abramovich has been very insistent on Chelsea playing the beautiful game as it should be. This policy has led to many great managers being shown the door much earlier than expected.

After recently bringing in Conte as yet another new option, the Russian would probably be extremely happy with the way the team has been playing of late. Since the switch to the 3-4-3 formation, the club has been experiencing an incredible upturn in fortunes.

Conte would have been expected to be a pragmatic coach due to his Italian origin, but this has not been the case since the club has scored 16 goals in the last five matches while conceding none. At 47 years of age, the Italian has the capability to be in charge of Chelsea for several years but he knows that Abramovich is always demanding when it comes to results.

“He’s a very demanding employer but a great football enthusiast.Mr Abramovich is an employer and owner who has great passion for football. He wants to know and understand your ideas. He went to Austria to follow our training sessions. He comes to Cobham to spend time with us and watch the videos I show to my players, because he really wants to understand. I think this is wonderful,” said Conte. The club are currently second in the league, just one point behind Liverpool.
