Even though some people will state that Chelsea have started the new campaign unconvincingly in terms of performance, few will doubt that the Blues have started proceedings in excellent fashion in relation to results. One man who is very satisfied with how things are going is John Obi Mikel, with the midfielder stating that he is happy with how the Blues have overcome all of their challenges.
Many pundits have criticised Roberto Di Matteo’s men for their performances over recent weeks, yet the fact that the club are top of the Premier League and their Champions League group speaks volumes about how successful they have been. Moreover, it begs the question just how effective can the Blues be once they get the ball rolling and start putting in some solid performances.
Mikel appears to be concentrating solely on results and he told the press his happiness about the new season. He said, “I’ve been pretty happy with the way we’ve started the season. We are where we want to be. We’re top of the table and unbeaten still. We want to keep that going. When we played against Newcastle, I said it was going to be a big test for us and we managed to beat them 2-0 and it was a great win for us. And then Arsenal, wow, how are we going to go about it? But we went out there, we took the initiative.”
Mikel should also be pleased with his own performances, with the Nigerian taking part in all six of Chelsea’s top flight outings. Of course, there was a blot on his campaign with a mistake against Juventus that cost the Blues a goal. However, even though he came in for plenty of criticism following that error, he has still managed to keep his place in RDM’s plans and make a sterling contribution to the team’s form.
