Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has said that he has been impressed with the chants from the supporters for Jorginho this term. The Italy international was not a favourite among the fans last season and he was deemed guilty whenever the Blues underperformed with former head coach Maurizio Sarri at the helm.
He said: “I was delighted to hear that myself. I’ve said it a lot now, I said it last week as well, he’s been a pleasure to work with. I do think that with fans, they are generally pretty honest. What they’re seeing is a player – I don’t want to talk about last year – but what they are seeing now is a player who has a drive, has a determination as a team player. I’m certainly seeing that.”
Jorginho has continued to remain a regular starter for the Blues this term but he has not received a constant midfield partner with the injury concern for N’Golo Kante. Nonetheless, he has impressed with the passing range through the opening few games and Lampard has recently acknowledged that the club are fortunate to have the services of the former Napoli man.
Chelsea have accumulated four points from the opening three games and they are currently just one point off the top four places. However, they have a negative goal difference courtesy of the 4-0 hammering on the opening day of the season and that sees them lying 13th on the table. They are scheduled to host Sheffield United at home this weekend.
