This is according to the report frompopular media portal Goal which stated that the wing-back is a target for West London side Chelsea after an outstanding season in the French top flight.
Chelsea are considering the possibility of signing Clauss to boost their squad for the new season and it has been reported that £10m would be enough to sign the player who has four caps for the French senior team. He’s a latecomer on the international stage due to his good form for Lens in the French league. The transfer fee for the 29-year-old is on the low side as he has a year left on his current deal at Lens. Spanish La Liga side Atletico Madrid are also interested in the player.

Injuries to Reece James and Ben Chilwell in the fullback area derailed Chelsea’s season during the latest league campaign as the Blues fell from being title challengers to the Champions League football challengers. Also, the futures of club skipper Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso at Chelsea are far from certain. The two Spanish fullbackshave been linked with La Liga side Barcelona. Alonso has a year to go on his current contract with Chelsea, while Azpilicueta has less than two weeks left on his current deal with the Blues.

He’s expected to be a cover for England international Reece James who scored six goals plus ten assists for his West London team during the recently concluded league season.
