Torres set to start against Steaua

Fernando Torres is set to return to the starting line-up for Chelsea’s crucial Europa League last sixteen second leg tie against Steaua Bucharest.

The Blues, who trail 1-0 after last week’s first leg in Romania, are unable to call on Demba Ba, who is ineligible having already played for Newcastle United in the competition.

Oriol Romeu is the only injury doubt for Rafa Benitez, who may freshen up his line up ahead of a potential fixture pile up.

Elsewhere, the Express have claimed that the club could make a move for Lyon forward Bafetimbi Gomis when the transfer window reopens.

The Frenchman, who has 12 goals in 27 Ligue 1 appearances this term, told French press that whilst he is happy at Lyon, he is tempted by a move to either England or Germany.

Meanwhile, Guus Hiddink has hinted that he could make a return to manage in England.

The 66 year old, who was briefly in charge at Stamford Bridge at the end of the 2008/2009 campaign, is one of a number of names linked with the soon to be vacant managerial post at Chelsea.

Hiddink’s current side Anzhi Makhachkala travel to Newcastle United in the second of their Europa League last sixteen tie this evening.
