Cahill out of San Marino game

Chelsea centre back Gary Cahill has been ruled out for England’s World Cup Qualifier with San Marino on Friday, and is a doubt for the game with Montenegro four days later.

The 27 year old injured his knee in the Blues 2-0 win over West Ham United on Sunday, but has stayed with the squad should he return to fitness in time to face the Group H leaders on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, David Luiz and Ramires are both doubtful for Brazil’s friendly with Italy on Thursday.

Both players are being assessed after each picking up knocks at the weekend.

Elsewhere, German newspaper Der Westen has claimed the Blues will offer Kevin De Bruyne as part of their offer to Bayer Leverkusen for forward Andre Schurrle.

The 21 year old has started every game in the Bundesliga this season, scoring six goals and is in line to make his 25th appearance for Germany in their World Cup Qualifier against Kazakhstan on Friday.

Finally, after parting company with their manager for the third time this season, Blackburn Rovers are reportedly lining up an audacious move for Rafael Benitez.

The Spaniard is set to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer, but would most probably spurn the Championship clubs advances should they make a move.
