Blues agree deal for Oscar

Since Roberto Di Matteo’s official appointment several weeks ago, there is no doubt that things have quietened significantly on the transfer front. However, if reports are to be believed, the Blues could be set to enter the transfer market once again with Internacional’s Oscar dos Santos Emboaba Junio supposedly set to switch to Stamford Bridge.

There have been newspaper reports for the past few days linking Oscar with a move to the Blues, although the rumours have intensified over the last few hours after a respected source claimed a €25m deal had been agreed with Internacional. The source, representing ESPN, claims that even though the transfer has not yet been completed, the deal has been agreed in principle. The source said, “Nothing is signed but a deal in principle is agreed for €25million.”

It was only last week that the Internacional president came out and said that while no offers had been received by the club, they were always open to negotiations due to their financial situation. It now appears as though the Blues have acted on those words and if sources are to be believed, Oscar could add to the increasing Brazilian contingent at Stamford Bridge.

The signing of the 20-year-old would certainly satisfy the majority of Blues supporter, with the player regarded as one of Brazil’s most promising stars. An attacking midfielder by nature, Oscar has already made six appearances for his national team after being hugely prolific at youth level.

Whether the transfer comes to fruition is another matter. The Blues have been in a very similar situation already this summer, after it was claimed that Hulk was all but certain to sign only for the move to seemingly fall dead. With the player also representing his country at the moment, it would be unlikely for any transfer to be concluded this week.
