MORATA TURNS DOWN CHINA MOVE

Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata has reportedly turned down a move to the Chinese Super League his summer.

The star was offered a mega deal worth £147 million to move Far East but he turned it down without batting any eyelid, preferring the competitive European football.

Marca reports that the player would have earned almost £30 million in annual wages for five years had he agreed to the deal. The player is an interest of Premier League giants Chelsea. Coach Antonio Conte managed him while he was on loan at Juventus and they could reunite at Stamford Bridge after this season.

Morata has netted 20 times in all competitions this term, despite Coach Zinedine Zidane favouring Karim Benzema in the pecking order. If the Spaniard stays at Madrid, he could get to take over from Benzema but he would get fewer chances before then. At the Bernabeu, he is assured titles too while leaving Spain might be a gamble.

With the future of Blues striker Diego Costa not certain, and with Chelsea set to play more competitions, the club requires a top striker. Morata has the youth and experience and he would be a good fit but for now no definite decisions seem to have been made. Continue reading

Cesc Fabregas Denies Suggestions of Moves Away from Chelsea

Cesc Fabregas has denied suggestions that he is looking for a move away from Chelsea.

He has categorically deny these rumours and says that he is only focused on the blues. Since coming to Chelsea in the summer of 2014, the midfielder has been an immense part of the squad. He was a major factor behind of the club winning the league title in the 2014-15 season. Even though he has not been a regular starter this season, largely due to the lack of Champions League football, Fabregas has played a crucial role in Chelsea remaining top of the table for much of the campaign.

The blues midfielder, though, has been linked with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool in the last couple of weeks. Both clubs are ready to make an offer of around £25 million for the 30-year-old. Chelsea would not be in the mood to lose him, as it is extremely difficult to replace a player like Fabregas. STAMFORD BRIDGE UPGRADE PLANS APPROVED BY MAYOR

Chelsea have been given the permission to build a £500 million 60,000-seat stadium by the mayor of London, according to reports.

This means the club can demolish or rework the current state of the stadium to increase the capacity from the current 41,600 to 60,000.

Hammersmith and Fulham Council approved the plans earlier in the year but the mayor – who makes the final decision – has given the go-ahead.

“Having taken a balanced view of the application, I’m satisfied this is a high-quality and spectacular design which will significantly increase capacity within the existing site, as well as ensuring fans can have easy access from nearby transport connections.

“I’m confident this new stadium will be a jewel in London’s sporting crown and will attract visitors and football fans from around the world,” the mayor Sadiq Khan said.

The Premier League side was elated at the permission to proceed. Continue reading

Eden Hazard only considers Arsenal and Manchester United as real threats

When it comes to winning the Premier League title of the current season, Chelsea are the favorites as Antonio Conte has led his team to the top of the English League with 56 points secured from the 23 opening league matches that they have played so far.

Tottenham Hotspur is sitting in 2nd place with 47 points, Arsenal in 3rd also with 47 points, Liverpool in 4th place with 46 points, Manchester City also has 46 points and Manchester United is slightly behind the rest of the table-toppers with 42 points.

Eden Hazard believes that despite Manchester United falling behind in the English Premier League standings, they are one of the main teams that Chelsea should be worried about along with Arsenal.

‘’I think Arsenal and Manchester United are the biggest title rivals. United had a bad first part of the season and I think for a couple of games now, they played well. They drew against Stoke, but they have good players and the squad is very good. The manager is good, so they will be second or third. Tottenham also are strong. We lost there, but for me it is more Manchester United. They are more experienced. That is my opinion, maybe I’m wrong’’ Chelsea’s Eden Hazard said. Continue reading

Thomas Vermaelen might be back playing in the English top flight next summer and that too for Chelsea

Thomas Vermaelen might be back playing in the English top flight next summer and that too for Chelsea.

It has been known now that John Terry’s contract is not going to be extended at Stamford Bridge.

So, his departure is almost certain and in that case, the Blues would definitely need an oily defender to fill his shoes and there would be very few better options than Vermaelen.

Veramelen is currently at Barcelona, but, his position over there is not good as he is not getting to play as many games as he probably should be.

So, he would not be that reluctant either to move away from the Catalan giants’ camp.

If he does so and comes to Chelsea, it would be pretty similar to what Cesc Fabregas had done.

Fabregas had also left Arsenal to join Barcelona and then, after a couple of years, came back to England to join Chelsea.

The Arsenal faithful, since then, have been very angry with Fabregas and even now, they don’t let go of any opportunity to have a brutal verbal go at the Spanish playmaker.

Vermaelen should also be ready to take the flak if he makes his way to Stamford Bridge.

Vermaelen was actually rumoured to be on the target of Manchester United as well in the earlier parts of the mid-season transfer window, but, Luis Enrique, the Barcelona head coach, had denied that possibility at that time terming Vermaelen a vital cog in the team’s set up. Continue reading

Willian reckons victory against the Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev

Willian reckons victory against the Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev the other day in a European clash shows that Chelsea is starting to find a bit of confidence again.

The Blues beat Kiev 2-1 with Willian playing a major role in that, converting a free kick at a crucial juncture.

Willian has actually been somebody, who unlike most of the other Chelsea players, has not come for much criticism recently. He has produced the goods.

The Brazil international has made 16 appearances in Chelsea jersey across all competitions in the season so far and has put the ball into the net 5 times which is not a bad performance at all.

Talking to the press yesterday, he said, “I think it’s all falling in place for us. Confidence wise, we are getting there and the results are only going to help. It was important to try and secure three points over here and we will have to capitalize on this win now. It’s not been easy at all for us this summer, but, we’ve always believed we can turn the tables.”

Chelsea is now occupying the second position in the standings in the Champions’ League Group G and they are well and truly in race for making it to the pre quarter final round of the competition. Continue reading

Chelsea looking to extend winning run against Hammers

Chelsea head into tonight’s game against West Ham United looking for the three points that could see them return to the top of the Premier League.

Leaders Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw at Southampton yesterday evening, giving both the Blues an Manchester City the opportunity to leapfrog them this evening.

City travel to Tottenham Hotspur, and anything less than three points for Manuel Pellegrini’s men will see Chelsea move into first place if they emerge victorious.

Fernando Torres and Marco van Ginkel are the Blues’ only absentees, though Mohamed Salah will have to wait for his debut as he is not currently in the country.

Meanwhile, Luke Shaw will hold out for a move to Chelsea rather than sign for Manchester United, the Mirror understands.

Both clubs have been strongly linked with a move for the Southampton left-back, who has emerged as one of the hottest English talents in the Premier League.

Premier League champions United are keen to finalise a deal for the eighteen year old before Friday’s transfer deadline having already broken their transfer record with the £37.1m signing of Juan Mata.

However Shaw is willing to remain at St Mary’s for the rest of the season, safe in the knowledge that the Blues will pounce in the summer.

Chelsea keen to beat United to Shaw

Chelsea will use the money they received from Manchester United for Juan Mata to try and beat them to the signature of Southampton defender Luke Shaw, according to the Mail Online.

With Ashley Cole now 33 and yet to be offered a new contract, the Blues are keen on bringing in the highly rated left-back  while United are looking to continue rebuilding after breaking their transfer record at the weekend by bringing in Mata.

The club are still in a £20m profit this month despite bringing in Nemanja Matic and Mohamed Salah, and are confident they have the financial muscle to get a deal for Shaw over the line.

However, the Daily Star understands that the South Coast club have absolutely no intention of selling the 18 year old.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino has reiterated that the Saints are keen to keep hold of all of their star players this month.

Elsewhere, reports in Spain suggest that an agreement has been made between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid for a swap deal for Thibaut Courtois and Diego Costa, the Mail Online understands.

Courtois has spent the last three seasons on loan with the La Liga side, while Costa, who is currently the second top scorer in La Liga behind Cristiano Ronaldo, is wanted by a host of European clubs.

Ba set for Blues recall

Demba Ba is set to be recalled to Chelsea’s starting line-up for Sunday afternoon’s FA Cup fourth round tie against Stoke City.

The Senegal international has started just three games so far this season, but is expected to be given the nod after Fernando Torres was ruled out for some weeks with knee ligament damage.

Long-term absentee Marco Van Ginkel is the only other player unavailable to Jose Mourinho, though he is likely to rotate his squad, with three Premier League games coming up in the next fortnight.

Meanwhile, Juan Mata is set to undergo a medical on Friday afternoon ahead of his proposed move to Manchester United.

Reports say that a central Manchester hospital is waiting to carry out a physical examination on the 25 year old, who has told his teammates that a move is imminent.

The move looks to have been given the all clear by the Blues after a deal was agreed for them to bring in Egyptian winger Mohammed Salah from Basel.

United are set to pay a club record fee of £37m for the Spain international, eclipsing their previous record of £30.75, which they paid to Tottenham Hotspur for Dimitar Berbatov five-and-a-half years ago.

Mata closing in on United switch after Blues accept record offer

Chelsea have accepted Manchester United’s offer of £37m for midfielder Juan Mata, the Telegraph understands.

The Spain international, who been used sparingly since Jose Mourinho returned to Stamford Bridge, is now free to discuss terms with the Premier League champions, who lost their League Cup semi-final with Sunderland on penalties at Old Trafford yesterday evening.

Should the deal go through, the 25 year old will become the most expensive player in Manchester United’s history, while the fee would also be the highest the Blues have ever received for a player, far eclipsing the £24m that Real Madrid paid for Arjen Robben in 2007.

Mata was named Chelsea’s Player of the Year in both of his full seasons with the club after scoring thirty-three goals and making fifty-eight assists in one hundred and thirty-five games in all competitions, while in terms of honours, he helped the club to success in the FA Cup, Champions League and Europa League.

His last appearance for the club came in the 3-0 win over Southampton on New Year’s Day, where he was substituted in the 53rd minute.

He didn’t hide his frustration as he left the pitch, and had to be calmed down by his teammates after he kicked a plastic chair in the technical area.
