Antonio Conte speaks about Alvaro Morata ahead of the Everton game

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has admitted that summer signing Alvaro Morata is improving a lot in terms of his physical condition.

The Spain international scored on his league debut for Chelsea earlier this month as he came on as a second-half substitute in the 3-2 defeat to Burnley.

Owing to his impressive performance, Conte handed him his first league start against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, and he put in a commanding performance, although he missed a glorious opportunity to score in the first period.

Prior to the Everton game, Conte spoke about the positives of his summer signing, who he still believes is adapting to Premier League football, he said: “Morata is improving a lot. Also Bakayoko is working with us for only 10 days. To go into a different style of football is not simple. You have to understand the movement, when you attack the space, whether you stay to receive the ball, there are many situations to understand. Morata is improving a lot in physical condition and is also adapting to the football.”

In the absence of Gary Cahill, Cesc Fabregas (both suspended) and the injured Eden Hazard, the Blues put in a strong performance against Spurs, who succumbed to yet another defeat at the Wembley Stadium. Chelsea host Everton in their next league outing on Sunday, and they will go with a bit of positivity into the game, having not lost at home to the Toffees in their previous 22 outings. John Terry will return to Chelsea someday

John Terry played his final game for Chelsea on May 21 of 2017 as he performed for his club in their match against Sunderland which concluded with the team of Antonio Conte claiming a 5-1 triumph.

The 36 year old English defender made a speech about his time spent in Stamford Bridge as he made over 700 appearances with more than 15 years of playing time at the English Premier League club but his time has finally reached it’s end.

“One of the most difficult days of my life. Thank you will never, ever be enough, but I’ll tell you what: I’ll be back here one day. I’m going to be supporting the players and the club from the bottom of my heart. You’ve given me everything from the age of 17 when I first started out. You picked me up when I was down, sung my name when I’ve had bad days and disappointed you as well.” Continue reading

MORATA TURNS DOWN CHINA MOVE

Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata has reportedly turned down a move to the Chinese Super League his summer.

The star was offered a mega deal worth £147 million to move Far East but he turned it down without batting any eyelid, preferring the competitive European football.

Marca reports that the player would have earned almost £30 million in annual wages for five years had he agreed to the deal. The player is an interest of Premier League giants Chelsea. Coach Antonio Conte managed him while he was on loan at Juventus and they could reunite at Stamford Bridge after this season.

Morata has netted 20 times in all competitions this term, despite Coach Zinedine Zidane favouring Karim Benzema in the pecking order. If the Spaniard stays at Madrid, he could get to take over from Benzema but he would get fewer chances before then. At the Bernabeu, he is assured titles too while leaving Spain might be a gamble.

With the future of Blues striker Diego Costa not certain, and with Chelsea set to play more competitions, the club requires a top striker. Morata has the youth and experience and he would be a good fit but for now no definite decisions seem to have been made. Continue reading

Chelsea players confident match against Liverpool

Despite having played in Europe just a couple of days back, there was no sign of exhaustion in the game of the Chelsea players when they took on Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

They were far from being fresh. Some of them were even playing with minor fitness issues, but, they did not let the level of their performance go down.

According to the boss Jose Mourinho, the thing which kept his not-so-fresh-players going in a tough atmosphere at Anfield was the will to win against the strong teams away from home.

Speaking in the post match press conference, Mourinho said “It was all about mental toughness. The physically freshness was obviously not there, but, we were determined to win in difficult conditions.”

It was Chelsea’s 9th win in their 11 games in the league this season. The remaining two games have been draws. They have looked completely untroubled against every opposition. They are 4 points clear at the top and their goal differential is +17.

Liverpool, which had finished second in the last season, seems to be missing Luis Suarez quite a bit. This defeat against Chelsea has got them out of the top 10 now. They are at no. 11 with just 14 points and a goal differential of -1.

For the second time consecutively, the Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers made a whole lot of changes in his starting XI. Seven players who had featured in the Champions League game against Real Madrid the other day got dropped.

The new set of players definitely showed a little bit of intent at the start, but, it was all Chelsea later on.

A couple of referee decisions could have gone in Liverpool’s favour. They could have got a penalty towards the end, but, there’s no denying that they were not as good as Chelsea on the day.
