BranislavIvanovic has stated that he accepts his current situation after being dropped to the bench by Antonio Conte.
He said that he has no hard feelings towards the manager and that he wants to do his best for the team. He believes that the manager has made the best decision by choosing the most in-form players and that he will accept the situation at the moment.
Indeed BranislavIvanovic has been a major player for Chelsea under Jose Mourinho and seems to have now lost his first place in the team. The defender said that he understands the situation and that he will be training hard in order to win his place back in the team.
The player has been criticized for the past months, and it seems that Antonio Conte has finally decided to replace him in the team. Indeed the player has been the culprit of many mistakes that have gifted opposition goals against Chelsea. Many pundits believe that BranislavIvanovic may have a hard time in getting his place back in the team and that at the moment Antonio Conte has different alternatives in this position.
Neither Alexandre Pato or Radamel Falcao have been making impressive performances in Stamford Bridge and both of them have returned to their parent clubs as Chelsea did not opt to extend their respective loan deals any further.
Both of those players were signed on loan deals and Chelsea had the option to extend their respective deals for a longer period of time but after disappointing, the head chiefs of the Premier League club decided to not risk spending more time or money in them as they returned to their original parent clubs and Chelsea
are now setting their sights on other players who might be signed during the summer transfer window.
The attacking department of Chelsea is one of the areas that Antonio Conte is expected to reinforce the most as the main goal-scorer of the Premier League club is Diego Costa but the Brazilian attacker has not been performing at his usual best. In the 2015-16 Premier League season, he scored only 12 goals which is a significant drop in goals compared to the 2014-15 season when he scored 20, almost double. Continue reading
The second half of the campaign has been excellent for Chelsea, according to interim manager Guus Hiddink.
He replaced Jose Mourinho midway through the campaign. At the time of his arrival, there was even a possibility of relegation battle for Chelsea. Such was the incredible fall from grace for the 2015-16 champions that Hiddink was largely expected to not make much of an impact in terms of league position. This has been true to a certain extent, as Chelsea have been only able to make it back into the top 10 of the table.
They have missed out on top four qualification and will not be playing in the Champions League or Europa League next season. This will be the first time Chelsea are without any form of European football since the arrival of Roman Abramovich in 2003. However, Hiddink says that the damage was done in the first half of the season. Since his arrival, Chelsea have lost only a handful of matches in all competitions. Just like in his first spell as the interim manager, Hiddink has revealed that he will not be staying at the club beyond the end of the campaign. The club decided to go for Italy boss Antonio Conte on a three-year contract. Continue reading
Guus Hiddink believes that Chelsea were disappointing in the 3-0 loss against Manchester City because some of the players may have started to focus on the Euro 2016.
The summer bonanza is now the biggest prize for many of the Chelsea players like Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas, and so on. The large number of European-based players in the Chelsea squad could be blamed for the loss, according to Hiddink. The blues were lambasted by several pundits for their unprofessional attitude in this game. For much of the opening minutes, Chelsea played with zest and endeavour but they were undone by a fortunate goal for City.
Sergio Aguero’s effort to a huge deflection from Gary Cahill’s foot to get past Thibaut Courtois. The goalkeeper was later sent off in the game after conceding a penalty. Aguero scored his hat-trick, but Chelsea will look back on two of them being fortunate. The club, though, were frequently exposed on the counter-attack by the brilliant Samir Nasri and Kevin De Bruyne. Chelsea players will want to finish the season as soon as possible. It has been one to forget after the club underwent a managerial change once again. Finishing outside the top four will feel like a new feeling for most connected with the club, but they will have to accept the disappointment of not being in Europe next season. Continue reading
Liverpool legend Didi Hamann claims that Chelsea should stop their pursuit of a new manager and instead look at the possibility of appointing Guus Hiddink on a permanent basis.
The Dutchman has come back to Chelsea for a second spell as the interim manager. It looks almost certain that he will not stay at the club beyond the season. Chelsea have been linked with a number of managers like Pep Guardiola and Massimiliano Allegri. However,Hamann says that Chelsea are failing to recognise that they have a wonderful manager on their hands already. Hiddink suffered only one defeat in his previous spell as the interim manager.
This impeccable record looks set to continue, as he has so far been able to avoid defeat in all competitions. If that can be a complaint on Hiddink, it can be the lack of victories. Chelsea have been involved in a number of draws since the arrival of the Dutchman. They are not good enough to help the club get in contention for the top four. Just one league victory in the last five matches means that the club are still several points away from getting into the top six. After the Guardiola option was recently ruled out, Massimiliano Allegri has been made as the favourite to take over. Continue reading
In June of 2014, Thibaut Courtois made his return to Chelsea as the Belgian goal-keeper ended his loan deal with Athletic Madrid and sparked a shockwave in Stamford Bridge and the Premier League as the 22 year old player is arguably one of the best players of the top tier league with sublime performances in every match he plays in.
The remarkable season that Courtois is going through is great news for Chelsea as the club has only conceded 26 goals in 30 matches but at the same time this also brings negative consequences for other players who have had to be sidelined for the majority of the season and Petr Cech is the player who has had his spot snatched away from him.
Rumors are now claiming that Chelsea are prepared to sell Petr Cech and have placed a price tag of €10 million for the experienced shot-stopper who is being linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.
Petr Cech has a contract with Chelsea which extends until the end of the 2015-16 season but if the contract could be terminated depending on the situation of the player and the club. If Mourinho wants to sell Cech, then he could be offloaded and it does seem like Cech will be exiting Stamford in the summer transfer window as the player has already stated on a number of occasions that he wants to join a club where he can have a secured regular starting spot. Premier League leaders Chelsea will hope to put some distance between themselves and the chasing pack as they welcome third place Arsenal to Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
Victory for Jose Mourinho’s men will see them regain a seven point advantage over their London rivals and Liverpool, who travel to Cardiff City later in the day while Manchester City in fourth face Fulham at Craven Cottage.
David Luiz may return to the Blues starting line-up after being fit enough to be named on the bench for Tuesday evening’s Champions League last sixteen second leg victory over Galatasaray, though Ashley Cole is set to remain on the side-lines with the knee problem that saw him miss out midweek.
Brazilian internationals Willian and Ramires miss out having both been sent off in last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa.
Should Chelsea lose to the Gunners in what is Arsene Wenger’s 1000th game in charge, it would give all of the three sides below them the chance to overtake them in midweek.
Arsenal host Swansea City and Manchester City travel to neighbours Manchester United on Tuesday evening, while Liverpool host a struggling Sunderland side twenty-four hours later.
Chelsea are expected to include both Ramires and Willian in their starting line-up for this evening’s Champions League last sixteen second leg against Galatasaray, with both midfielder suspended for Saturday’s clash with Arsenal.
Ashley Cole is doubtful having been absent from training on Monday, though David Luiz is fit and could replace the cup-tied Nemanja Matic, while Mohammed Salah is also ineligible having represented Basel earlier in the competition.
Former Blues forward Didier Drogba is expected to start for the visitors, with the tie finely poised following the 1-1 draw in the first leg in Istanbul three weeks ago.
Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho is confident that the Ivory Coast international will return to the club in some capacity in the future, according to the Metro.
This evening will see Drogba return to Stamford Bridge for the first time since leaving the club following their triumph in the final of this competition in May 2012.
The forward, who was taken to London from Marseille by Mourinho in 2004, scored 157 goals in 341 appearances, plus the winning penalty in the shoot-out victory against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.
The Blues boss believes that the 36 year old will return at some point as either ‘a player, coach or ambassador’.
Chelsea can extend their lead at the top of the table by as much as nine points with victory against Aston Villa in Saturday’s late kick off in the Premier League.
With Arsenal and Liverpool not playing until Sunday afternoon, Jose Mourinho’s men will be keen to tighten their grip at the summit though they must attempt to do so without the injured Ashley Cole while David Luiz and Fernando Torres are both doubtful having missed last weekend’s 4-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.
Mourinho is likely to select his side with Tuesday evening’s Champions League last sixteen second leg against Galatasaray at Stamford Bridge in mind.
Ryan Bertrand, who is on loan at Villa for the rest of the season, will be ineligible to face his parent club.
The Blues ran out 2-1 winner when the sides met at Stamford Bridge back in August, while they also recorded the same result in last season’s corresponding fixture in May – the day Frank Lampard broke Bobby Tambling’s goal-scoring record for the club.
Elsewhere, Paris Saint Germain striker Edinson Cavani has insisted he is happy in France, despite reported interest from both Chelsea and Manchester United.
The Uruguay international has rebuffed claims there isn’t pleased with his role in the team, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic often playing as a sole striker in Laurent Blanc’s side.
