CHELSEA CLOSE IN ON CAHILL
English Premier League club Chelsea is close to completing the transfer of one of their long term targets by signing Gary Cahill from Bolton Wanderers.
The two clubs had agreed on a transfer fee for the England international defender almost a month back but the move had stalled due to the difference between the London club and the player’s representatives over the personal terms and that had threatened to stall the move with Cahill reconsidering making the move to Stamford Bridge.
This prompted speculations that champions Manchester United were ready to swoop in with a late bid for the 26 year old and hijack the deal with so many of their back line injured and out for the season.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp was also contemplating a move for the defender who has been a long term target for the club and so did bitter rivals Arsenal. But it seems that Gary Cahill and the three times English Premier League champions Chelsea have agreed on a deal that will see the tall defender make the move to West London and to Stamford Bridge. On the other hand, with the move for Gary Cahill almost finalized, The Pensioners are ready to offload unsettled defender Alex who might make the move to fellow English Premier League club and London neighbors Queens Park Rangers.
The former Brazilian international spurned the chance to return to his native country with Santos FC and it now seems that the move to QPR is only a matter of time. However, Chelsea might just lose out on Didier Drogba with the Ivorian looking to secure a move away from the Bridge and with plenty of clubs willing to take him and with their strikers misfiring badly that might just be a big problem for the side from West London.
